What a great way to start the day!

This morning I received an e-mail from the Pastel Guild of Europe letting me know one of my wolf paintings, Winter Watch, had won their 'Get Dusty Challenge' - what an amazing way to start the day! I was absolutely thrilled - but it didn't end there...

As well as receiving a fantastic set of 20 Pan Pastels and tools (kindly provided by their sponsors, Colorfin, LLC), the PGE have asked if I would agree to an interview which they would then like to feature in the next edition of Scribbler, their official Newsletter, due out in early November! I said 'Yes, please!' before I'd even had my morning mug of coffee ;)

Seriously, though, winning this contest means a great deal to me and I want to share the comments made by the panel of jurors with you...

"Our decision is based on the excellent use of values to put all focus on the wolf's face and eyes, and the good placement of the head near the left third of the area. In short, the simplicity of values, and the way the artist has connected the darks made an impact we couldn't ignore! We also feel her use of colour temperature, used to create volume, is a good technique. Her strokes are sure, not hesitant, the composition is good and the piece has great emotional impact."

This is definitely a day I will NEVER forget - another marker on my amazing Art Adventure!
